CRGA does not view senior living facility design as healthcare architecture.  We understand that in order to provide a continuum of care to seniors, healthcare design is involved, but only as a component.  Senior living is residential design as we are creating a home for the residents.  This home must reflect the needs of active adults as well as adults requiring a wide range of assistance and clinical care.  All too often, CCRC facility design focuses on creating a home-like setting for active seniors and very clinical settings for those in need of assisted living or skilled nursing care.  As evidenced by our work at Ginger Cove, our philosophy is based on creating a consistent residential environment regardless of the level of care required by the residents.
